Raven Royal

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
My Approach

My therapeutic approach

is clearly much different from the typical traditional therapy style. My approach is eclectic and I use a variety of modalities and orientations such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Shadow Work Therapy, ACT and Trauma-Informed Therapy.

I approach therapy under the impression that my clients are the experts on their lives and experiences I am merely a tool or guide to help you to discover the best parts of yourself while understanding that it is through the pain of life that often brings us to therapy because we are no longer comfortable with aspects of lives.

Recent Highlight

I am happy to announce my completion of training for EMDR therapy and I have met all the requirements by the EMDR Institute and am a trained EMDR therapist. If you are interested in this modality of therapy, I will be more than happy to explore this with you. You can also verify my training directly from the EMDR Institute. The proof of certification of completion will be produced upon request.

About Raven

I have been in the mental health field over 12 years. I started off my journey while in college as a Child Care Worker in a residential treatment facility for foster children. I eventually would go on to  working as a School Counselor, where I worked with at-risk middle school-aged children.

Couples
Therapy

The initial session focuses on getting to know each individual and exploring the dynamics of your relationship as a couple. Ideally, both partners attend together. However, if that's not feasible, I'll ensure an unbiased approach when working with each individual. If I meet with one person initially, I'll also meet with the other person individually for an equal number of sessions. I typically require a minimum of three individual sessions before transitioning to joint sessions.

Marriage & Family
Therapy
Life inevitably encompasses both highs and lows, which are an integral part of the human experience. In our therapeutic relationship, I aim to foster an environment characterized by compassion, understanding, empathy, and a non-judgmental openness to differences.
I believe that every individual seeks to attain a fulfilling quality of life, yet many may find themselves overwhelmed by recurring disappointments, self-doubt, and a pervasive sense of being adrift.
